Thank you for visiting my electronic teaching portfolio.
As an instructor, I’ve been fortunate enough to teach First Year Writing Seminars, LitCore, Studies in Narrative, and American Literary History III. As you’ll see on my “Syllabi” page, each of these was vastly different in terms of scope and students.
As a scholar, I’m interested in twentieth and twenty-first century American literature and culture. I hold an Ph.D. in English Literature from Boston College, an M.A. in Psychology in Education from Columbia University Teachers College, and a B.A. from Columbia University, where I majored in English and Comparative Literature. I spent time in motion picture production before returning to academics in 2008. My dissertation, which is titled “I Was Never An American: Rejection and Disaffiliation in Twenty-First Century Immigration Narratives,” was completed and defended in 2015 thanks to the generous support of a dissertation fellowship from Boston College. The book manuscript of my project is currently under review at Cornell University Press.
No “about” page would be complete without mention of my best projects to date, Jack and Avery, my sweet son and daughter.
